Elpro is an experienced and flexible supplier of switchboard solutions for sea borne vessels and off- and onshore structures. We design and build advanced, modern switchboards for all types of maritime vessels. We guarantee maximum utilisation and management of all electrical power on board. We have continuously developed our own switchboard design for over thirty years.

To meet the wide range of functional and technical requirements in the market, we customise and supply future proof and installation-friendly solutions with market leading customer satisfaction. All our switchboards are manufactured at the Elpro factory in Selva, Norway.

Products and systems delivered by Elpro is installed in vessels and sea borne structures that operates all over the world. Our Service and Commissioning Department regularly receives feedback on the operating performance of our deliveries from all our customers across the globe. We find such input valuable, enabling us to identify and continue to implement improvements and upgrades. With the customer’s valuable feedback, we can maintain our position at the leading edge of this demanding technology.

From hull to seagoing ship – we manage the entire project from the birth of the project to its launch. If the ship is built abroad, final fitting can be completed at our ship yard facilities in Fosen Norway.

  • Closed ring system that satisfies the highest DP requirements.
  • Directional protection and zone selectivity, which allows minimum loss of bus bar sections even for a worst-case single fault on a vessel with ERN 4×99, running with closed bus ties.
  • Power Management System (PMS) can be included in the switchboard (which saves yard for a lot of cabling and potential fault finding in the future).
  • Load Sharing (LS) can be included in the switchboard without taking any extra space on each generator cubicle (symmetric, fixed power, asymmetric).
  • AVR’s can be mounted in each generator cubicle for easier fault finding and commissioning.
  • Ultra Rapid breaker (UR breaker) can be mounted into our switchboard to allow higher installed power running in parallel @690V, and to limit the short circuit level to 100kA/220kA peak.
  • Calculations, production and commissioning.
  • Robust chassis – we are extremely flexible, and can build according to special dimensions and specific requirements. That means robust solutions able to cope with vibrations and any tough environment.

  • Painting: Our factory has a large-scale and highly-advanced powder coating facility to provide switchboards with a unique appearance and colour scheme.
  • FAT can be performed at our factory.

  • Specification in close cooperation with client and systems integrator.
  • Project management from A to Z. Single point of contact for clients.
  • Engineering and design for marine purposes compliant with the requirements of the vessels class requirements.
  • Construction and manufacturing: Produced in 2mm cold-rolled steel and in accordance with IEC 61439-2. Flexible solutions are possible due to in-house construction of all steel parts.
  • Surface treatment: All parts are treated and powder coated at our paint department with a selection of RAL colours.
  • Documentation is produced with state of the art design soſtware, and customer prior to production approves the plot plan. Short circuit calculations are in accordance with IEC EN 61439.
  • Copper rails and bus bars are critical equipment and must be able to cope with high voltage. We make bus bars at our own factory, where we bend and customise before installation. We save bus bar shapes as 3D drawings to make it easy to retrieve them in the future.
  • If anything should ever happen to the main- or back-up switchboards, the ship can lose propulsion. In such a situation, when new rails or bus bars are needed, fast reaction is needed to get them out to the ship.
